About Prague

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is one of Europe's most beautiful and historically rich cities. Known as the "City of a Hundred Spires," Prague's compact Old Town is a treasure trove of medieval architecture, baroque palaces, and Gothic churches. The city has been remarkably well-preserved, with many monuments surviving centuries of history.

From Velenice Cottage, Prague is easily accessible for a perfect day trip. Take the train from nearby Nymburk station (trains run every 30 minutes) or drive in about an hour. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, culture, or simply enjoying Czech beer in historic taverns, Prague offers something for everyone.

Getting There from Velenice

By Train: The most convenient option is to drive or take a bus to Nymburk train station (about 20 minutes from Velenice). From Nymburk, České dráhy (ČD) trains run every 30 minutes to Prague's main station (Praha Hlavní nádraží), taking approximately 55 minutes. Tickets cost €3-9.

By Car: Drive directly to Prague in about 1 hour via Route 38 and D11 motorway. Parking in the city center can be challenging and expensive, so consider using park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts and taking public transport into the center.
